“Struggle and Hope…you can’t Do Justice without both”

St. Petersburg— Wahoowa Music announces the release of "Do Justice", the new album of songs by Jim Barrens. The album features stories of ordinary people grappling with life in extraordinary times. Like the Vietnam veteran battling his demons; an Irish woman coming to America, and the Italian immigrant and country she fell in love with. A pretty country singer, victims of brutality, the marchers in Selma in 1965, and a Virginia Lady.

Filled with hope, faith, and brutal reality, the album is a call to action and source of comfort in difficult times.

"...classic Americana at its finest. Barrens' voice flows nicely in and around the soothing guitar and violin work and illustrates the lyrics with authenticity...sure to draw listeners of all kinds."  Jon Wright, Radioplay.com

Simple songs, simple stories, everyDAy people...

16th Street Baptist Church, Birmingham, Alabama

I've been writing and playing songs since 1965. That's a lot of years and a lot of life's experience. It’s been quite a journey.

Through my songs I’ve come to know hundreds of people, real and imagined, who have enriched my life. Like the Vietnam veteran battling his demons; the hitchhiker and the poodle; a singing cowboy; an Irish woman coming to America, and the Italian immigrant and country she fell in love with. Hurricane survivors in Kentucky. Emmylou Harris; Philando Castile, Keith Lamont Scott and hundreds of others; the marchers in Selma; a Virginia Lady with a Pretty Face. And an aging singer facing his own frailties and mortality with a wink and a grin.

Join me on the journey....the best songs and stories are probably just around the corner...
